Active School

Brusna National School is proudly working towards achieving its 4th Active School Flag, a significant milestone that reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to promoting physical activity and wellbeing among its pupils. The Active School Flag initiative encourages schools to provide more opportunities for children to be active, both during and beyond the school day, helping to build lifelong healthy habits.

Working towards a fourth flag shows that physical activity is not just an occasional focus in Brusna NS, but a core part of school life. Pupils take part in a wide variety of activities including physical education lessons, playground games, active breaks in the classroom, sports competitions, and special activity events. The school community — including staff, students, and families — works together to ensure that movement and participation are encouraged for everyone, regardless of ability or interest.

The importance of activity in school cannot be overstated. Regular physical activity improves children’s physical health by strengthening the heart, muscles, and bones. It also supports mental wellbeing, helping to reduce stress, improve mood, and boost confidence. Active children often show better concentration in class, improved social skills, and greater teamwork abilities. By embedding activity into daily routines, Brusna NS is helping pupils develop not only healthier bodies, but also positive attitudes towards exercise that can last a lifetime.

Through dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm, Brusna NS continues to create an environment where being active is enjoyable, inclusive, and celebrated — making the journey towards its 4th Active School Flag both meaningful and inspiring.
